This application is a light weight CAPTCHA solution designed to prevent spam from being submitted via forms on blog type web pages. It is easy to implement, you need no components, it loads fast and it is user friendly because the CAPTCHA characters are easy to read. This CAPTCHA is NOT an image, but simply a div tag styled with CSS. More information here: http://www.u229.no/stuff/Captcha/

anybody can hack this kind of codes to spam. because html code can be read by string manipulation algorithms. this must be unreadable image for ocr type algorithms.

Yes, of course a bot may parse the html and that way crack the captcha and submit the form. But I think we need to keep in mind what is the scenario here.

If you need to protect a bank, then you wont be using a captcha at all. Because it can be cracked. And this goes for ANY captcha, even those made as images. Our task is to stop spam, so all we want is to create a way to distinguish between a human and a bot.

Some bots/robots are crawling the Internet looking for forms that are not protected at all and submit these with spam. More advanced bots will target popular blog applications like Blogger or TextPattern. If this captcha would become popular then at some point the bots would start parsing the html, for sure. Until that happens, this solution should be able to stop them.

Regarding A CAPTCHA Solution Built With Classic ASP, CSS
Supposing I create the CAPTCHA on the fly by using
Response.Write (" ")
for example to create the entire javascript and form
will this reduce the possibilities of spider being able to dissect a form that is not even created yet
when it goes through the script page.

Ola, it doesn't matter how you design your ASP code, it will still just return pure html.

I've looked at the html that this puppy generates. It is not immediately obvious to me (a human) which question is being asked and which letters and colors are being displayed.

I am an experienced programmer and I think it would take an incredibly sophisticated bot to figure this thing out.

I have been abused by automated email harverters in the past, but I would be comfortable putting this thing on my websites to protect my contact forms.

Great work.

Hi,
I was trying to use the captcha code given by you in my application, somehow the typed text is not matching with the captcha characters.
