This document (a PDF file) outlines how to easily recover from crashed menus and toolbars, where the menustrip and/or toolbars suddenly become blank, usually after we innocently tinker around with resource file locations outside of the IDE. This problem has been reported since VB2005, though I expect it happened in earlier versions, and I have had it happen to me under VB2008 and VB2010, and I expect it to happen under VB2012.

The solution is simple, and will turn what seems like total dsaster into an incovenience that is easily repaired. This is because all the menu entries are all still intact; it is just that their sub-item constructor lines (the AddRange line) are missing, but can easily be manually rebuit foolowing the simple guidelines outlined in this PDF document.
