Not so long ago I wanted to add scanning (image acquisition) facility to an application I was working on, but, alas, do you think I could find anything on the net? To assist my fellow coders, I have put together a sample application utilizing the Windows Image Acquisition Library, to acquire images, printing and preview the images, etc., etc., etc. I do realize that I have not commented enough of the lines, but I am sure that you'll get the gist of the code pretty quickly. I have included a GPL to ensure that you are and will not be violating any copyrights. So, enjoy and keep me posted. Your comments are welcome so don't be shy. NOTE: You must have the latest Windows Image Acquisition Library v2 in order to run this application. If not, you can download this from MSDN. Regards, T. C.

  2. NEVER, EVER run compiled files (.exe's, .ocx's, .dll's etc.)--only run source code.

If you don't have a virus scanner, you can get one at many places on the net including:McAfee.com

I gave a 5 star rating. But I had some issues with the project. I got an error "The imported project C:\Microsoft.VisualBasic.Targets" was not found. Using VB2005 I had to create a new project. Add the form and files to it.

Then added a COM reference to "Microsoft Windows Image Acquisition Lib" C:\Windows\System32\wiaaut.dll

Then for the toolbar scan button (Private Sub ScanDocumentToolStripMenuItem_Click)
There is an error. Line 294 reads: For Each Filename In My.Computer.FileSystem.GetFiles(_Path)

I had to add the underscore to FileName so it should read: For Each _Filename In My.Computer.FileSystem.GetFiles(_Path)

Otherwise it works perfectly and Im running this under Vista x86 with VB2005.
