A very cool VB space simulation game. This project is for everyone that claims VB can't be used as a game engine. Using home-made buffering methods, I re-wrote the Raptor game engine in VB. Your ship shoots, the bad guys shoot, ships explode, music is played (mp3 format) - this engine has everything. If you've liked the little arcade games people have posted (pong, etc.), you'll be blown away by this full-scale game using hundreds of blits simultaneously. Everything you need is included (including the ocx for playing mp3's), and the code is very concise, clever, and fast. One thing - it's not quite commented fully and the user interface needs some work. I had to rush and finish it for a school project, so there is much left to be done. I am looking for someone to do custom graphics (I am using the ones from Raptor for now) and I will revamp the game to be entirely like Raptor (level editors, weapon upgrades, etc.) for commercial distribution. The code in question was a special "addition" to my presentation at school of my final project. It's commented out here, but basically it installed Doom onto my teacher's machine and made the machine boot up to it...several hundred times. A good joke, and I didn't even realize that it was still in there. I've uploaded a new version without that - sorry for any problems it might have caused. I read your comment and admit I haven't downlaoded this one yet. I was just thinking, if you "revamp it to be entirely like raptor" wouldn't that be a waste of your time? I think you should revamp it like raptor and make it better than raptor, In response to the other message about the cheat menu - if you absolutely MUST have cheats, make them yourself, I admit in every game I make there are cheats to get further ahead but I made them only for testing on the winning sequence. Cheats suck and shouldn't even be included in the final version of a program. It defeats the entire purpose of writing a game if you allow the user to bypass all of your code just to see the ending. (If this comment was disrespectful, please report it.)

Looks like a cool game, but with the creats, you should have the cheats only avaliable when the user completes the game of a level, or gets a high score or something! Anyway, this looks great! Voted Excelent! (If this comment was disrespectful, please report it.)
Most gamers play the game without cheats, only the pathetic ones will use cheats, I know a lot of gamers that don't use cheats at all, even after finishing the game.
With the settings, it shouldn't be hard to fix it so on Form_Unload it returns the settings to normal. (If this comment was disrespectful, please report it.)
