(About the author)
Update (28.10.06): Added support for looping, fixed some small bugs, added a new class "WAVPlayer" which simplifies streaming playback a lot. ///// Shows how to stream sound data to the WaveOut. Supports the WAV file format and the ACM (audio compression manager), to handle compressed WAV formats. Uses Paul Catons subclassing code. I tried to keep it as reusable as possible, so there are 2 classes: One reads (or decodes) data from WAV files, and one sends it to the WaveOut.

I get a method or data memeber not found error with .StreamExtensions when I attempt to load a wav file. Also get division by zero errors when adjusting vol or position with no wav file loaded. You need some error handling with this.

Jackson, you can change the volume with no file loaded, but not the position.
Keep in mind this is only a test project for other programmers, not a full blown audio player for the masses.
As for the StreamExtensions error, I can't reproduce it.
Are you using VB5?

That's correct RM, I'm using VB5. Any suggestions on how to resolve the error?

No, I don't have that version ;)
But you can simply replace the line with "strExt = "*.wav""

its a good project on wave, one question : if we have multiple sound cards on machine and change the Device selection, will it change the default device also or device is selected for the session only?
Can you please detail me how can we use this program to play other media files as well. As at one point you have mentioned it that its a part of other big project, surely there must be a way, since you are using ACM I think we can play other media as well with some modifications.
I would like to use this code in my player if I can use it for other media as well.

Hope you will suggest some thing

Hi Arne,
I used your ACM code as a guide in a C# project.. converted to C style pointers etc.
