Try editing "connections.inc" change line 12 to objConn.Open "DSN=dbPostOutlook" and make an ODBC System DNS entry "dbPostOutlook" pointing to the database (.mdb).

FIX for database and DSN errors:
Most people have found that taking out the DSN=blah substring from the connection string has fixed all their problems, and I'll just add here what Xao said fixed his problems:
Try editing

I've emailed everyone who requested Access97 format, and I've added outlook97.mdb to the zip file, as well as adding the entire JMail install file, just in case people would like example files and documentation for the JMail components.

This application is excellent so far (aside from a few minor issues w/installation)...the one thing it doesn't appear to do is let you add contacts that aren't employees...an "address book" functionality is necessary for any intranet! It's what I came here looking for...

Daniel,

The reason so many people are having problems with the .dll is that Planet Source Code removes them from your submission (due to too many people uploading viruses). If you email me the complete .zip file at webmaster@planet-source-code.com, I'll post it up with all of the files intact.

Can you include a document that explains fully about the installation process (apart from the todo.txt file which looks like a last minute changes file)?

keep up the good work. I got all the dll's and full version.

Nice Job !

You might want to consider a name change though...

Outlook is trademarked by M$ which means you cannot use any form of the word...

Just thought I would pass that along...

I downloaded your ZIP file and tried to install it and having a whale of a time trying to install it. Cant get past the logon screen. Is there better documentation on how to install this.
(If this comment was disrespectful, please report it.)

5/22/2001 5:46:14 PMDaniel Barnes

If you ever written or installed an ASP application, this should be no different. Just change the connection string so that it doesn't have the DSN= line and points to wherever you put the fups.mdb file. If that doesn't work, email me with more information on the specific error messages.

This is the error I recieve I tried the few sugestion above please help thanks

Error Type:
Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers (0x80004005)
[Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Driver's SQLSetConnectAttr failed
/connections.inc, line 12

(If this comment was disrespectful, please report it.)

5/26/2001 4:35:16 AMDaniel Barnes

All right, this seems like a very specific problem with your particular ODBC configuration. Back to defaults:
objConn.Open "DSN=MS Access Database;DRIVER=(Microsoft Access Driver (*.mdb));DBQ=C:\fups.mdb"
Check your ODBC Data Sources to make sure that "MS Access Database" exists under the User DSN tab. If it doesn't, add it. The DRIVER= statement should also correspond to the driver given for that data source. If that doesn't help, I don't know what to tell you.
(If this comment was disrespectful, please report it.)

6/6/2001 10:09:24 AMBart

It seems like this is a really common problem with this script. i have created teh User and System DSN. I have pointed it to the proper database. i still get this error.

Error Type:
Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers (0x80004005)
[Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Data source name not found and no default driver specified
/Outlook/connections.inc, line 12

(If this comment was disrespectful, please report it.)

6/6/2001 3:52:31 PMDaniel Barnes

It's not common, but it is the only error I hear of. Out of the 8000 people who've downloaded the code, only 10 or so have had this error; that's a pretty good record. All I can suggest is delete the System DSN from connections.inc and ODBC and make sure the names of your User DSN and Driver match the names in connections.inc

If all else fails, just change the connection string to one you KNOW works with ASP, something you've used before!

Any easy way to do this?

6/9/2001 8:38:27 PMDaniel Barnes

I d/l a zip file for using Exchange to create a public calendar for a project I was working on. It's pretty crude, but it's fully coded and has great explanation pages. I'll email it to you.

The reason you're getting the syntax error is because O'Keefe has an apostrophe in it, which causes the server some problems trying to figure out where the strings start and stop.
Try using the " symbol (i.e., SHIFT + apostrophe) to bound your strings.

i wont tell you these lame things :) 'cos there is nothing wrong with the code. First, Congratulations. Second, an advice, if you dont want to write an chat script, there are many out there, use one instead of this java one. because maybe some intranet users dont have an internet access, that makes them not reach anyone to chat... See what i mean. The rest is really cool. And a last thing, you should improve your html coding :))) Thanx for sharing this awesome project with us.

Like several other would-be users of this program I am getting the following error message:

"Invalid Global Script
//global.asa, line 1

directives within <% ... %> are not
allowed within the Global.asa file. The

Can you help please? I have made the required changes to connections.inc

I've followed changing the connection.inc file but a new problem came up. the error is:

Error Type:
Active Server Pages, ASP 0137 (0x80004005)
Script blocks must be one of the allowed Global.asa procedures. Script directives within <% ... %> are not allowed within the Global.asa file. The allowed procedure names are Application_OnStart, Application_OnEnd, Session_OnStart, or Session_OnEnd.
/outlook/global.asa, line 1

also, where can I get the jmail installer? it's not included in the zip I downloaded.

Thanks for the big help, can you send me the installer for the jmail @ jv3rgara@yahoo.com my msn account can't handle anymore emails with attachments.

Again, thanks!

Josef

Maybe this could help.
I saw the following on a website.

Note: We cannot use the ASP script delimiters (<% and %>) to insert scripts in the Global.asa file, we will have to put the subroutines inside the HTML "script" tag.

example:

sub Application_OnStart
''''some code
end sub

Works PERFECT for me, I modified the ADO connection string like this:

strConn = "Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data Source=C:\Inetpub\PositiveOutlook\PosOutlook.mdb;Persist Security Info=False"
objConn.Open strConn

and i changed the e-mail stuff to use CDONTS, and all that stuff works great. My only issue is that I'd rather use something "plain" like PureASPUpload rather than the SiteGalaxyUpload component to do the Image Uploading, so I might modify the code to do that.

Hi.
To all having connection problems there seems to be an error on line 12 of connections.inc - there are brackets where there should be curly brackets like { and }. Compare below to what you have. I have used the following and it works fine, nice code Daniel, thanks.

objConn.Open
