This code is an example of using Regular Expressions in VBScript/ASP, in order to parse certain words (in this example, swear words, but you can add any words you wish), and return them partially hidden (and less offending) with asterisks. (Example: netscape --> n******e)

I like it... I'd like to see the "word list" expanded to include offensive words such as 'php' and 'cold fusion'.

Great code, just what i was looking for!
is it possible to get the get the code to pick up rude words embedded in other words, e.g. darn - goddarnit or god-darn-it. Or probably asking too much but what about god-d-a-r-n-it?
cheers, Pete

Great code. I used it to block advertisers using the guestbook on my Grand-Daughters Memorial website. I substituted http:// and href for the bad words. Thanks Jay

I have benefitted through ur code becoz i m developing a site which censor words i.e. contact emails and phones that i already defined, ur code works about 80% of my purpose but i m still in need for ur help.

WHAT I WANT is that ur code replace words e.g. if user enters "hi netscape darn" it will replace as "hi n********e d**n" .

i want the whole word to be replace whether it is contain within another word e.g. if user enters "hinetscape darn" it should replace "********** ****", plz especially note down the concatenation "hinetscape" and it replaces the whole word.
This way i will not allow users to enter any contact emails e.g. i will

define @hotmail.com as forbidden and when the user enters mhsnali@hotmail.com it will replace it with "***" (no matter how long
will be the replacing asterisk).
