All you should need to do is throw all the code into a folder (I called it event) then just make a link from your page to it(http://yoursite.com/event/) then change the look and feel to match your site. If you need anymore help let me know

I, too am learning asp, and your code looks like what I need for a potential project. I'm sure this is a simple question, but how do I fix this "path not found" problem? I am using Brinkster as a server for practice, so is my server path different than what is expected?
This is the error after the admin.asp page displays:

Microsoft VBScript runtime error '800a004c'

Path not found

/webcurve/event/admin.asp, line 61
------

and this is line 61:

Set FileIn = FileObject.OpenTextFile(FilePath, 1, 0, 0 )
-----

and the location as it appears in the url is:
http://www1.brinkster.com/webcurve/event/admin.asp

Thanks!

Can I use this code in my outlook timecard application? The application just calculates the balance hours worked in a week?

Hi There,

This bit of code seems like just what I need. There is only one thing missing... How hard would it be to not display events that have already occurred? In other words, only display the upcoming events.

Thanks,

Mike

Also like the guy above, I am using brinster to host the website that contains this script.

The error is causes by the code:

The path is correct and the file definetly exists. So, could anybody tell me what is causing this problem before I go crazy.

Thanks

Try to change the line 61 from

FilePath = Server.MapPath("/event") & "/events.txt"
to
FilePath = Server.MapPath("/webcurve/event") & "/events.txt"

I have difficulty with the Server.MapPath settings. Once defined, I cannot update the events.txt file. No permissions, yet I am on my own local system.
It complaints about "An invalid character was specified in the Path parameter for the MapPath method.
/kah/AndyWilliams/Webpage/root/event/admin.asp,"
in admin.asp line 14, I use "FilePath = Server.MapPath("http://localhost/kah/AndyWilliams/Webpage/root/event") & "\events.txt" "

Please advice
