WOW, looks like a lot of effort went in to this! Great looking interface.
The only thing that is missing is some error handling, as your project will crash if you try to add a project when none have been entered, after clicking the "OK" button.

Hi Neil, a big project! Still some 'effects' ;) , but very professional, with chm helpfile and so on ...! One note: I got an error when doing this: Start, dblClick on first db record (your own entry), clicking on 'Add releated Project' button, and then in upcoming dialog. If you want to make it multiuser on a network I've got a tip for you. Use mySQL database with it's ODBC-driver. That way you can, with little changes to the program, use ADO through the ODBC to access the mySQL db. At work the guy that did the work before me used an Access db. I changed that into a mySQL db with a db-server running on the serverPC. Things run much smoother now when multiple users are accessing the db at the same time. At the moment there are up to 12 people using my program with no delays. When using the Access db sometimes it took up to 15 seconds to load some records out of the db. Now it's less than a second.

Excellent work, very professional interface, coding style and readability is also nice compared to most posts here. There are definitely some areas to improve upon this, ie. drop DAO and use ADO as pointed out by Merlin, you can also use msjro.dll to perform a Compact and Repair of the Access Database in one step. You could also drop the GetSetting and SaveSetting and write to specific registry keys of your choosing. All in all it looks and works great. You get 5 from me. Kindly note that in this area, there will always be alternatives, and requests for more features. However, for your request for assistance on making it network viable, I will be glad to assist, should my help be required (Email me). As far as database access is concerned: loose DAO and the registry entries, and definately go for ADO and XML. You could improve alot by avoiding ACCESS alltogether, and switch to SQL(or equivalent). One last note: Big problems will definately occur in the near future due to using a combo box to select contacts,... with high numbers of records, it will slow down a lot this application. All in all, you deserve the 5 globes for the following reasons: 1- you are sharing this code with others. 2- you used code from other people, putting them to use in a single, meaningfull application. 3- Your approach is innovative, and shows there is a lot of room for better ways of doing things, than what is forced on us by the big Companies.

Just like everyone else, I have to say this is a great project. Also like a lot of them I have to offer you encouragement in hopes you do upgrade it to ADO and another settings system (XML, or your own registry area instead of SaveSetting.)

Hi I really wanted look at your program but I having this error as I tried to convert the VB6. I am using Visual Basic.Net2003. It say upgrade failed:Exception occurred: The referenced component commonDialog is missing a design time licence. It is an exellent project, but i am having a bug in the source code generally when trying to add a name in the module modGeneral. the error is : " Compile error: Label not defined" then this is the eror in the code : "Sub LogErrors(strMod As String, lngErrNum As Long, strErrDesc As String) On Error GoTo LogErrors_Error" and from this i am unable to add the address work addresses. see what you can do to help me solve this error and by the way i am using visual basic 6.0 but i do not have the msdn library thanks olivier vincent (If this comment was disrespectful, please report it.)

What is so sad about this is it isn't even his own idea. This is an obvious rip from Intuit's Customer Manager program. Come up with some ideas on your own!

Nice code. I have sarted converting this so it uses a MySQL database using ADO ... I have also added user lvls (Admin, Power Users, and Users), to help tighten security so users can not delete contacts/todo's ect that do not belong to them .. Also a few other minor adjustments ... i will email you a copy of the code once i have finished if you like to see it.

This is generally well-written code and a good GUI design. Even if the idea came from another program, it's great. I disagree with anyone that feels it's wrong to build something based on someone else's idea. That's how we got computers in the first place. Not trying to flame ... just my opinion.
