In one of the libraries that comes with Visual C++ 6, I believe there is a doEvents function.

Oh I never looked... I do not like using libraries anyway... Still, I am showing how to use DoEvents() to delay for a certian ammount of time...

Nice, but you could use MsgWaitForMultipleObjects to avoid the busy loop.

To expand on my previous comment put this line just below the while(...) and the function will eat up about a thousand times less CPU time.

MsgWaitForMultipleObjects(0, NULL, FALSE, endTick - GetTickCount(), QS_ALLEVENTS);

This will cause the thread to sleep until a message is available or the timeout is reached.

There is also the problem that GetTickCount can overflow.
