Ever wanted to make your own multiple user server? Say for something like chat or Instant Messaging? Now you can forget about coding the Winsock control for complicated multi user support, let DSS Server Control do the job for you! You need a reasonably fast machine to see the control at its best. Please read the Readme.txt file included in the archive, or dont and get all frustrated; your choice ;p You will need WinRAR from www.rarsoft.com or www.winrar.com, as there is a RAR inside the ZIP file. If you need the source in ZIP format, then download www.angelfire.com/d20/vbfiles/dss_zip.zip. **UPDATED: The Socket Stack Managment in StartNewSocket() has been fixed** Read the Readme.txt file for more detailed information.

For your own safety, please:
  1. Re-scan downloaded files using your personal virus checker before using it.
  2. NEVER, EVER run compiled files (.exe's, .ocx's, .dll's etc.)--only run source code.
  3. Scan the source code with Minnow's Project Scanner

If you don't have a virus scanner, you can get one at many places on the net including:McAfee.com

Would this be any good as an HTTP server to serve more than 2 sites from the same computer?

The DSS Control will function as a multi user server, HTTP Server is one possibility, yes. As for serving more than one site, that would be down to your coding of the control. I will myself be using the control in ISPN Server for a HTTP extension. (ICQ style user status image server)

Thanks for the feedback

Tell you what, I'm no good at programming servers...........so....

If you make it capable of the above, then I will give you 5* and give it away for you from my websites....

I am currently using a program called MyWebServer, which alledgedly serves 2 sites, but it is impossible to get it to do that without the visitor appending a port number to the end of the URL and I can't seem to get the Apache web server to run
