This code first finds a number a links that you specify, and then goes to the links looking for email addresses. it does not look for the mailto: it looks for the @. So by doing this I get some email addresses that are not email addresses, but that does not happen to much. But, I need your help. This program Seems to freeze up, but it does not, you can move the window and press buttons, but the spider will spot search for links or email address for about 15 sec and then continues again. But, over all, it works good. beside I just made it in 12 hours. I would like you to look at the code and try to make it go faster. There are no bugs that I know of. But I like to hear what you got to say about this prog and what I need to do, so I can improve it. By the way, sorry about the poor coding. I'm not the best at VB. I can only code with what I know, and work from that. Thanks. Also please visit my site at ComputerTecK.com Have fun!!

I've had no problems using this on my cable modem. It never freezes. I'm using Win XP. Good code though! 5 from me.

i found that this program worked well with the default address of 'monster.com', but it didn't work with many other sites i tried. I found that it looks for absolute links (address that start with http://www.) on a page, and not relative links (which donr use http://www.) Most sites use relative links. it would be a great improvement to change the program to look for relative links.

Brian, check out my new submission (its a cleaned up version of your code and it also does more validation on the email addresses so it only gets good addresses)

legit list of 450,000 address, you would need a program to read your list and send the off the emails. Don't wast your time on programs that will taint your name.

My 0verview :
Over all , Good Job Brian .
* This program does pick out E-mail addressess as said.
DownFall :
* Slow
Suggestion's :
*Continue stream from web-site Source code ; ie , continue to link to other relevant http:// addressess & then search again / Then return or continue linking procedure .
*Add a save E-Mail addresses file , instead of just deleteing all the work performed .
Two Thumb's up for a definate Effort
as well as legitamate program that's almost there.
HEY Gregg Housh ! ( He helped me once as well )

I apoligize, there was nothing impressive there.
Allocating two string arrays for 1,000,000 entries is rediculous. That and you totally BASTARDIZED the meaning of a Dynamic Array by declaring it an explicit value anyway.
Also, your Between function... Instead of that nasty looking "If" statement, you could've gotten the same results doing:
Between = (Number > min and Number < Max). That will return either true or false, without the conditional statement...
It was a mid-difficulty task done by a beginner programmer. Practice before you tackle projects you can't handle

Maybe you can view my submission of an email spider, and i dont know if my code will help you, cause mine goes pretty darn fast, with the occurence of the similar problem you have as far as getting javascript as an email address return, using the @ symbol instead of mailto...
as far as the freezing goes, you may want to consider writing your list emails to a temporary file instead of displaying them in a queue, that way all your RAM doesent get spent on your listbox... just an idea, let me know if that helps

Its good i would say except that (no offense) it really is slow :(. I agree with what was earlier said, if you take out the use of the RAM and store it to a text file or something it should go faster. Storing anything in your program is very taxing on the resources.

This program crashes if you have too long PATH, because GetTempFileName API call can not handle too long path names ! I have WinME. Don't know about other Windows versions ! Otherwise nice piece of code !

What possible VALID reason is there for this code?

I can only see why this would be useful to spammers.
