This is by far the most simple and best code I have seen so far, good job

The only problem is i can still just use IE and choose View-Source

yes i put this code as intermediate beacuse not many people know of those commands but it is really a simple script, but if you want your source protected that way you should find the script for chromless windows although they only work under the Internet Explorer browser they eliminate menus, i hope this helps you out

This is good stuff but if u select from view source we can see source code.It would even nice if it had that too.

I think if I show some content in a popup window (YEAH! Without the menu's!!)... then we eliminated the View Source from the menu too? ;-)

Excellent code! Cheers! Please try the outstanding JavaScript if you had a hard time lately with people that have been stealing things off your page.

Make a popup window with menus disabled and then you can have 1337 code protection

3/30/2003 11:56:51 AMHTML Dude

If u think about it, you dont need to use this stuff. I won't tell you folks how, cos it took me too long to find out, but there is a very simple way to prevent anyone from either looking at your source, downloading your web documents, or stealing your code. lol.

And it works for all browsers too. And it has nothing whatsoever to do with javascript, java, vb or any coding language. he he he.
I am sorry, but I have made an extensive search of the web and didn't find this knowledge anywhere, which is why I won't post it here. hate me if u must, but understand the effort it takes to learn such things.

A wee addition to the above comment.

Think HTML AND CSS.

3/30/2003 12:07:13 PMHTML Dude

And yes I do know this is HTML, but it is limited in usage.

hehe, you could just use encrypted javascript code anyway

HTML Dude, you can find it on a site, more or less, microsoft.com uses it a lot.

Why even bother with anti-right click scripts?

If someone wants to view your source, there is *nothing* you can do to stop them, if they can view the page, they can view the source, no way around it.

All scripts like this do is make your site look unprofessional.

Agret your code is fantastic, I use it on my website. And for all i suggest you to crypt yours .htm, .htmls so source code will be "weird" and full of strange characters. :) Agret's code + html crpyt = solution :)

TheSpaceDude, you are 100% correct. Nothing you do can stop people from viewing your source. In IE its just a matter of gong to the address bar and typing view-source:http://www.something.com if you use Linux you can use wget and just download the page :)

oh yes, as for crypting your pages, if you can see the page, it can be decrypted. :) Theres always an easy way to decrypt encryted source, no matter how much it is encrypted.

I recently started a site and came here for some hints on other related Java. I just came across this and read the postings. I'm sorry to tell all of you that you are all on the wrong track with IE- Check Visual Basic section and look around for a Source viewer . You can download and view any site in a textbox regardless of what Browser or what measures takin against it. No Java, CSS, HTML can stop it sorry. -its not even a fact about if you can view you can see the source - you dont even have to be able to view it it could be a password protected page as long as you have a working URL you can take the source. Sorry - I had to post. Not tryin to make anyone mad. HTMLDude - dont post things like you posted teasin ppl sayin you know what they dont this is an open source site and you act childish. Go away. -OnlineInfamous

Maybe you should consider using another site. Not this one.

Haha HTML Dude, big whoop if you use css to hide the source of the page, people just view your css and then view the source of the page :P

just build a frame around your document, using html. and the inside document you can have the right click disabled and then when they go to view source on IE it will only show the frame set up. that will deter most people..but it isn't fail proof. just a rather good deterent.

Which code?

"you dont even
have to be able to view it it could be
a password protected page as long as
you have a working URL you can take the
source." Your browser is not sent the HTML code until you are authenticated, you will just be viewing the source of a 403 forbidden page, sorry!

i've just installed the code to my website, and it works in IE... only problem is, it doesn't work in Opera, and so I doubt it will work in Netscape/Mozilla either.
(If this comment was disrespectful, please report it.)

8/2/2004 11:59:02 AM

Agret good code, bravo! But for all other: have you ever think about HTML cryptation? Nobody won't be able to see html source code after that. And web browsers use only about 2 sec delay for decryptation. ;)

If your web page is in HTML there will never be a 100% way of protecting the source a simple program that shows the request in text form will beat it every time.

Good... But for much improvement, can you please create a command line wherein they cannot access the Save / Save As in the File Menu, and also the Source in the View Menu...

Good Luck...
