Yeah! Me agree.
Remember the purpose why this site exist: sharing of VB code.
Of course I also agree with Andy that this code should not deserve an award if it is not from the original author.
So Jake, just take it that DH helps you to spread this code.

I see the usage of Bitblt on samples which comes with the VB5.
I also see you did not use the COPY function of bitblt, just cleared the screen!
Try to set up a picture, and use the constant 'SRCCOPY' to copy the sprites background to another object. (Eg. PictureBox) Not only clear it all!
Of course after this, the speed will decrease about %50!
Because there will be 4 Bitblt calls, Not 2!

I usually just write DB apps with VB, which are decidedly NOT graphical in nature. As such I'm always surprised when I see code like this.

I loved it!

Keep up the good work!

To Derik Hall.
I like your 500 Sprites code. What's the best way to generate your bitmaps and masks for the sprits?
Is there a freeware utility that helps you create 256-color bitmaps and automatically frames the mask for you?
Or will I just have to buy a graphics program? Even then, do most of the graphics programs allow for 256-color bitmaps?

Yeah, of course they allow 256 colour images... if that's what you mean
If you mwan do they save 256 colour images as bitmaps? then probably.... does the bitmap support 256 colours?? if so, they hell yeah !! - get the PSP demo from www.jasc.com

I wrote this with out help from any where. It is just to test the speed of sprites you can get out of your machine.

PS. I never claimed the prize...
