Great effect. I have no use for it, but I am greatly impressed by your imagination. It's quite a nice effect.

We are having problems down loading this zip file in oz. Do we just click on the download graphic or do we have to something else. Three different people have attempted this with no result!!!!!!!
PS Doesn't work on other downloads either

That is KEWL!
Some of you are saying that it's useless & you can't find any use for it, well, now I'm going to write something that I can use it for!
INSPIRING!!

Your statements of useless are incorrect. Say for a splashscreen of firehouse inventory application. A limited imagination hinders creation.

If you want to make it faster, here's a fix that'll do it. It may not be fast enough, but you might want to try it:

1. Disable Timer2

2. Make a new command button

3. Double-click on it and type the following code in:
'Beginning of the code
Timer2_Timer
10 Timer1_Timer
DoEvents
GoTo 10
'End of the code

4. Run it and click the button

After you click the button, you'll see the effect run a bit faster.

Pretty awesome! Don't mind if I use it, do you?

Awsome effect it wasn't to slow on my 450. You can increase the speed by simply drawing a buch of label and going through them in array with two timers one moving the label and one making it visible then invisible. (This a theory but I did somthing similar that way and it worked well and consistantly on all machines.) But it would look great on a startup form for a game etc. Ingenius idea and code. Ignore all the flamers and keep up the good work!

I have submited a optimized version of this code on 12 August 99.

Theres no information about the optimization though.

It is actually pretty cool. Who cares if it's useless? Heaps of fun and cool stuff is 'useless'. I like it - keep up the good work.

Useless it may be, for those that find no use for it, nevertheless its cool..

I liked it. It's the sort of code that you spend ages doing for no particular reason. Now if only I could figure out how to get paid for doing stuff like that...

i'm impressed. don't judge on the usefullness unless youre planning on just ripping it off for your own use on making something. it's unique and my hat's off to you.

Defenitely a neat effect and the code is very tight but unfortunately it eats up a lot of resources. - very slow

Hey everyone.

The effect is slow, but it is by no means useless. Graphical effect never fail to amaze the user, use them aplenty! :)

However, I am working on a full screen fire effect using a C++ DLL containing Assembly code which will blur the screen. And judging by pre-release tests, it is very fast indeed.

The blurring DLL has many uses, it is not limited to fire simulations.

The code, however, is quite nice.

If you are looking for raw speed tho, may I suggest you look into DirectX in VB?

I have a few programs in VB of my own which demonstrate graphical effects in VB with acceptable speeds. Feel free to take a look! I have a snow sim, a game, one or 2 other effects also. I specialize in graphical effects in VB using the all the speed I can muster from it.

Seeyall!

Gilb.
