This sample is 1 of the great TrueVision3D samples with Realistic 3D and with a high frame rate per second. This example shows you what you can do with the TrueVision3D engines, but it's still a small example if you know TrueVision3D. To test this example then you'll need to download the TrueVision3D engine(s) at: http://www.TrueVision3DSDK.com And if you need help or if you have any question then look at the TrueVision3D forum. (Please make sure that you have read the agreements(terms of use) if you use TrueVision3D for a game or any other application/software)

I encountered some errors...The error was MISSING: TrueVision8 v3.3 Engine for Visual Basic. I already visit your website and already became a member of it and i already downloaded the SDK but i wanna know what more files i should download to run your program.

Ok lets help you guys

First:
Download the latest engine on the site, ofcourse you'll need to register first for an account.
Don't download the setup package SDK, but the seperated download at the right of the page.
It will be version 3.5 or 3.6.
If you download it then put it as example in a directory like: c:\temp\engine then run the bat file, this will register the engine, but if your system is not at c:\window\system, then edit first the bat file in notepad.
After this the engine will be registered, but the project won't work.
Start the project(this sample) and click on preferences disable the current selected engine and CLICK OK so the window will close again, then open again the preferences window and click on BROWSE and open the engine as example at: c:\temp\engine
Then add "DirectX8 Type Library" you can get this with the DX8 SDK, but I

don't know for sure you'll need it with this example, but if it wont work, then this can be the problem.

Then start the example and GOOD LUCK.

(Don't stay the wholl day in it ;) )

It looks good, however I don't see the men or the tree's. Should they be there? I honestly havn't had a chance to examine the code. But all I saw was the very basic terain (and of course I could walk). Anyway thanks :)

This ScreenShot is made by a user, not by us and it's changed by the user, it just shows what the engine CAN do, the example in the download is the same terrain with lensflares and all the effects only not the MDL files and the Trees, but the building is there.
We could not use the mdl files, because it's not ours and we don't want to break copyrights.

Hi,

I don't know what your problems are, but there're a lot of other users who register the newest version every day and they have no problems.
And if you can't register it, then download the source code, and compile it, then vb will register it automaticly.
But, yeah NORMALY! as a good programmer you'll know. (maybe you not)

TV3D team

5/19/2001 4:47:51 PMÐark §oldier

Before I download this I wanna know if it changes the screen resolution. Like Ranj3rs program did to me. It changed it to 320X290 or something like that.
(If this comment was disrespectful, please report it.)

5/19/2001 4:51:58 PMTrueVision3D

Yes, it will, but it will reset the correct screen after running the sample.
The screen will be changed by DX, and restored also by DX to the screensize before you started it.
This sample will change the screen like in ANY game that is using DX to run, so if that works this will work to.

Sigurd

Um, is this a joke or something?

I'm not about to go downloading 20 MB of junk to try to run something which is looking for some completely different 20 MB of junk.

I'll stop there.

this really is extremely cool. for all the people who are having 'missing reference' probs, you can just download a newer version of the dll (i use 4.8), register it, open an exaple project, uncheck the missing truespace reference, scroll down and check the newer version. compile, run, done.

Works good. My ATI board is somehow able to get it to 40 fps at 1280x1024x32bpp

At 640x480x32bpp, i got 91 fps max.

I am having one problem though. Every other frame is drawn backwards (along the z axis) soe for ever other frame, I see distan objects in front of close objects. I can seem to figure out why it's doing it in the vb code, so it might be either DX8 or TV. This is the first DX8 app i've used, so I can't be sure.

8/27/2001 10:15:30 PMViper Tech.

I get "ActiveX cannot creat object" or something like that on "Set TV = new TrueVision3D" this looks for version 3.3 of the engine and says it's missing, so I replace it with 5.6 in the references. Do I need to have version 3.3 of the engine to run this?
I'm on Windows 98 with DX8.

From What I heard this is great. I am not a very good vb programmer and am having difficulties with the sample. I open it up and get the error "Cannot create referance" And i fix that by unselecting the Dx referance and putting in the TV one using browse. But then when I click Run I get compile errors and it highlights what is wrong i guess....but I don't think they would put a file with errors on up here. Can someone help me :(?

Looks good, needs an upgrade.
latest engine uses e.g TVEngine instead or Truevision8 and some commands have changed. Shame the Truevision engine isn't backward compatible. Although your prog looks great:)
