hi mclee To run this appliation you have to follow thw following steps.

Click the start button, then select Setting, Control Panel.
Double click on the ODBC Data Sources (32 bit) icon.

Select the System DSN tab.

Click the Add button.

Select Microsoft Access Driver (*.mdb) from the list and then click on Finish.

Complete the details . The Data Source Name is "employee". Click on Select and locate the employee.mdb file.

Click on OK and then OK again

These steps will connect the employee database application. Further I did this database program using Jbuilder4 and JDK1.3. When you are in your dos box you have to type java database.DatabaseApp to run the program 'coz the application is under database package.

I am getting the same errors as noted by the others. Cannot find the main class. I have edited the .java file and recompiled several times and it still gives the same error.

I've tried it by following the author's steps and it ran okay without any changes or re-compile. To overcome the errors, run the program with the DOS prompt at the classes directory and not under its sud-directories.

java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError often occurs when the java file is saved under a different name to the class-name. In other words, if the class is called xyz, you need to save it as xyz.java. Hope this helps in some way.
