     This file will append to a text file from a web form. Might want to tweak this for security and hard code the file into the perl script.

# Perl Append Text File from Web Form
#
# Written by: Blake Pell (bpell@indiana.edu, blakepell@hotmail.com)
#
# NOTES:
#
# - The file should be a hidden field on the form
# - To add more fields, just add the field on the form, then pull the data in
#just as the the date, name file are.
# - $myFile is the link on the server... so something like "../database/test.dat"
# - The file on the server needs to be set with the proper chmod permissions
# - This script also needs to be placed in a directory that can run CGI programs
#and set with the proper permissions for your server.
#
#################################################################################
use CGI qw(:standard);
my $myFile = param("file");
my $eventDate = param("date");
my $eventName = param("name");
print header;
print "<html><head><title>Thank you for your submission!</title></head><body>\n";
print "Thank you for your submission:<br /><br />\n";
print "<h3 class='title'>$eventDate</h3>$eventName<br />\n";
print "</body></html>\n";
open (EVENT, ">>$myFile") || die "Cannot append file: $!";
print EVENT "$eventDate, $eventName";
close(EVENT);

This script for example purposes... putting the file on the form causes a huge security hole... you would want to put the file hard coded into the perl script to avoid this.
