Dear Wade R AKA ,
I saw download your code protect.html and when i click the right button it is saying the "Cancel" button is disabled ok that is right, but after the middle button click and clicking the right button it is showing the popup menu, which is out of your context, and which should not happened, because you are protecting the source code which are been copied by the internet users.
pls check this out

just like to add my opinion. nothing is view source safe or thief safe.
a simple view-source:url in the page will get the contents then you can goto image urls from there. the only true way to keep something fully thief proof on the web, is not to publish it.

Y would you want to make something source safe? and if u did y in dhtml? an activex control/java applet or any commercil plugin (flash, shockwave, etc) would be a better job.

ne way, i've written a program (abit in VB - just a quick personnal prog so i couldn't be bothered with c++) to load the source strait out of the net the same way that ie does.

Finnaly, all webpages are cashed in your temp internet files (on pc & mac. I havn't used linux long enouth to know where it stores it :( ) so all u'll have to do is open the chased doument off the temp folder and into notepad.

Now in retrospect, was it really worth the hassle of produceing some code (and it looks as if u have put a great deal of time and thought into it) that tries to defy the very nature of the internet?

This is good code but it is to easy to get around there is only ONE way to make it so people CAN NOT see your code (It works well with this code!) And that is to incript it, disable Right Clicking! (Pictures can be saved by dragging them in the address bar! or desktop and a page can be saved by dragging the icon upper left corner on the desk top! there is a way to disable it but cant find the code!) If you want to encript your code you can do it free on http://dynamicdrive.com !!!! but it makes editing very hard(I just encript the script I rarly edit!) but still if some one knows about the incription (Like my or any one that reads this) can unincrip the code and see it! but this is not likly! lastly you can just make the web browser freeze like I if you right click but this is rude and not nice you can look at this an my site @ gregsprogramming.cjb.net ! (I freezes after the 2 time!).

If you hold down the left mouse button while you right click, you can copy pictures. How can you disable that from happening without blocking the click with left mouse button?

shift F10 still works to execute a right click event from the keyboard, as well as the standard "right-click" menu key on a windows keyboard, i tested in ie6, but both those methods of obtaining a shortcut menu worked for me.
im with some of these guys above here, dont publish ANYTHING you dont want people to see to publicly accessable folders, its dumb to even think you can get away with that.

there will be no script or "golden" pieces of code on your pages that arent on a dozen others, anyway.

Well the concept is good. But just hit F11 on the protected page and copy and paste the url to a new browser window.

Nothing will ever be safe from theiving.

This will only stop them from right clicking/selecting view source from context menu and view menu.

It doesn't prevent people form lookin in their temporary files or looking via their history, then viewing the source!!!!

There is a way to completely protect your source code and Ive been trying to publicise it for 6 yrs!!

The real solution is...... Pester microsoft or zdnet or someone big to ask me to publish it via them.....

have you ever heard of the temporary internet files folder? anybody who wants to make a truly impressive site must NOT add source protection otherwise their site will be hated. 1 globe.
