     During development, you may find that you need your code to determine if is running from the IDE or standalone.

try this:

Great article. Note that the "#If DEBUG Then" technique suggested by a commenter does not work properly in all cases because if the code is compiled and released in "Debug" mode then that block wills still run. Note that for a Console application, just checking for "Debugger.IsAttached" is sufficient in most cases. IMHO. I appreciate the details. Thank you. -- mkamoski
