Message to all: This Login Entry is encrypted so you better use this username: "admin" and the password is: "admin" also, you can change the Login Entry after you have entered the program and go to the Password Security Menu and change it if you want. GOOD DAY TO ALL OF YOU !! HAPPY LEARNING!! DON'T FORGET TO VOTE FOR THIS CODE..

Hi, I thought crystal report was with VB5 and VB net. I did not see any library for crystal report. Pardon my ignorance , how do I get crystal report?.
(If this comment was disrespectful, please report it.)

2/5/2001 4:14:09 AMAuthor

I have included all the reports in my code and the extension name is "*.RPT" . The Crystal Report 7 OCX control is not a shareware you have to buy it just like what you did to your Visual Basic unless your Visual Basic is a pirated copy.

Excellent program! I'm still a bit of a newbie and your code has helped understand a lot. I had trouble with Crystal reports at first but found information on MS's site,I would like to share that info with other "newbies"
"To install Crystal Reports, run Crystl32.exe. The location of Crystl32.exe depends on which version of Visual Basic or Visual Studio you own. In all cases, it is in the following relative path:
\Common\Tools\VB\CrysRept\Crystl32.exe
Use the following table to determine which CD to use:

Product Disk
-----------------------------------
Visual Basic Professional 1
Visual Basic Enterprise 1
Visual Studio Professional 2
Visual Studio Enterprise 3

Not sure why the DB is password protected... it's "MFSC" however.

I intended the database itself to be password protected to demonstrate how to connect to a password protected database in which i included in the code itself. Anyways, thank you very much for all the people who vote for me.

There is no error in my code. Probably you have an incomplete VB6 Components that's why you encountered such problems. If anyone is curious where to look for the Crystal Report Website...this is it. http://www.seagatesoftware.com/homepage/ I am not endorsing thier product i just want to help others.

How can this code be changed to work with ACESS 2000?
I wanted to be able to use ACESS 2000 to edit the database, but when I converted it
the program crashed. Also I have problems with the password.
I am certain that I enter admin, but it does not accept it. I am using VB6 with SP5

It always seems to happen on forms that have a parent/child format. Thanks.

"corporate code"?? What kind of corporation codes with global database variables? Not a very good coding style to use global database vars... A better design would be a 3 step process Open Database, Write/Read, Close Database....I dont' even think you have code in your project that actually closes the db. This is a joke.

Greetings from Zimbabwe. 5 gloves from me Ja. Woltez. You simply don't know the amount of value I have derived from your two submissions thats is the Point of Sale and Sales & Inventory prog. But I am looking forward to seeing more on VB and Oracle Connectivity. You seem to be concentrating more on the Access Database. God bless. It is pple like you who keep Planet Source Code humming and those of us in the remote third World where a VB book is the equivalent of Gold learning.

Agree with this thread on most accounts...
code is great for learning
i also get the same error on cant find row

for the crystl32.ocx problem -
get a small prog called "dependency walker" - it will check the dependant files for crystl32.ocx and give a report on the status of the ocx.
theres also a patch for crystal called "crystl32-ocxpatch.exe"
that might help. both are free for download.

hope it helps...

I downloaded your code and ran it using VB6 with a couple of groans about
crystal report, I quit coding after VB4
and just restarted with my old friend VIsual Basic and to browse this code was a real treat, the tool bar was a real effort I am sure and I would tell everyone that seems to have problems with run errors or other follow the code hand excute flow chart the program
or modules of it and don't copy if you find a problem come up with the fix that's how you learn also by asking questions but above all this is your code and your solution someone else might solve the problem using other controls (DAO)which is sugeted by MS for Access DB's However I give you a vote of 10 if there is such a thing because you shared it with the world knowing that people might rip it.

Thanks
and again an excellent job and the remark about Corp code and Global variables is sour grapes I think in MHO

5 globes, so that you know I am not being too negative.
Use Option Expicit to force declaration of all variables, etc.

'KISS' (Keep It Simple)
I would try to minimise your use of dependencies. They will haunt you with 'DLL Hell' etc.
May not haunt you, as you appear to code faster than Superman, but it will haunt others using the code.

I applaud you for sharing.

This program uses Crystal 7
Ignore advice above telling you how to install the free one that came with VB6, as it won't work with this program.
Would it have killed the author to mention this in the description at the top of the page.
With a WARNING that you must BUY Crystal 7, if you want to use this program.
