Great code and useful tool Issam. I didn't get the chance to consume it but I read the code and it's good. What's amazing is that you say ur 15 years old!!You'll have a bright future.Your coding techniques will improve when u explore good OOD and Software Engineering practices more in the future.(P.S:U still have many things to know and learn about Computer Science, it's not just programming, programming is only a small part of it :)..Best of luck man...

7/23/2004 11:55:03 PM

hello there

i'm a programming student

i work with visual basic.net 2002 and mssql server 2000

i've downloaded your tool
it is indeed supposed to be a very helpful tool
but how could i make it work?

since it is a .dll file
i created a windows application to
reference it to.

there is no any error generated when
i called the BackupDatabaseToFile function
(passing all the needed parameters)
but the problem is
there is no any .bak file created in the
directory i entered as the path
so i don't think my database was really
backed up.

i know perhaps i made used of the tool
the wrong way

what other methods do i need to call before the
BackupDatabaseToFile function?

please tell me if i used
it the wrong way

kindly enlighten me
by showing me a bit of code on how to use it.

more power

thanks

7/24/2004 12:01:45 AMIssam Hijazi

hello buddy..

you gotta connect to the server first using the control.. then do the backup function...

use the error description to see whats wrong with your code.. first enter your code then enter the sqlSDBC1.ErrDesc (as i remember) or sthing like that.. been long time like 2 years since i made this out.. so take it easy..

i'm a new vb.net programmer

i know the basics but i'm still kinda learning

so please if it's not too much,
could you please provide me
a step by step instruction
on how to use your code.

perhaps you could start upon
after i download your code,
since your code is
a control, what will i do next?

do i need to really create a
windows application like the others
who posted their comments?

what will i do with the application
(if it's needed)?

thank you very much...

8/4/2004 3:27:15 AM

i was the one who posted the
8/3/2004 4:40:54 AM message

forget it. i think i've found
the answers to my questions

all i needed was few hours in
front of the computer
and i was able to fully understood
and reuse your code.

thank you very much for sharing
your very useful code.
