(About the author)

This is a very easy guestbook, the code is around 25 lines. No SQL in use. No fancy stuff, or administrator tools only the code to learn from how to make it better. I myself tried to find a guestbook like this when i was a newbie and all i found were big guestbooks with 200 files and 150 kb. So I hope you guys will like this. I commented it as much as i could to explain what i was doing. Enjoy and vote

Thank god, someone that understands there are people still trying to learn this stuff. Uploaded it, set the attributes for it and it works. It may be simple but it gives me something easy to work with. Thank you

I have used it for about a year. It's one of those little nuggets that has more uses and potential then is firt apparent.

Well, I wouldn't put any passwords on that file. a normal user probably wouldn't find them out, but a more experienced user could easily find them out.
But it's excelent for the purpose it was created for and for other simple data.
It's exactically what I was looking for for some time now.

hey there.. i just come across this guestbook but im having problems.. but this keeps coming up wen i try to post the message.. Posted by:$name$text"; $total = $prevtext . $new; //we add the two like i said above this. TOTAL TEXT = The old text + New text. Makes sense fclose($handle); //we close the file for reading... could have done this above but it doesnt matter as long as you close it echo "$total"; //we print the TOTAL for the user to see the whole guestbook $handle=fopen($file, "w"); //we are gonna open the file again, but now not to read the old text, but store the new one fwrite($handle, $total); //we write the whole TOTAL in it. fclose($handle); //close the file ?>

I think its totally unsafe. no filterings so anything can be written in the flat file and then can be used to get the shell
