Shows how to make a card game in VB, with API calls only. No card dlls. Customizable background, card designs & multilingual menu captions. You'll probably get bored of the game pretty fast, but it might teach you some graphical techniques. I'll try to come up with a new and even better version as soon as possible. In the meantime, keep voting for it!!!

I've included the type lib temporarily in the zip file now, making it about 1MB in size. I'll modify the project as soon as possible & fix this.
Sorry ;)

I've fixed the code now.. No more WIN32.tlb... I've also removed the *.exe from the ZIP file.

That's it. Now the code should work well. No type libz should be needed. Sorry for not updating the zip file properly :(

Yes I agree,

This is an excellent example of card game programming in Visual Basic.

I wont be surprised if this is a Jan 2001 Code Contest Award Winner.

Well done! Keep up the good work.

I have been following PSC for about 9 month now, and sorry, but I have never voted before. This app was the first exception. Best app I have seen so far. Unbelievable cool! Gave you a 5, keep it up!

WOW. This seems to be going quite well (except for that "1" rating from Netscaper). This was just a kind of an experiment, to see what fellow VB programmers thought of my code. It's my first submission to PSC, so I'm pretty happy about the feedback I've got. Thx!

Fabulous, I love it.

I only have one small suggestion.
You might want to make the different face cards use different pictures of the characters.

For instance. Use Kai for all the king cards, but find four different pictures. Make the Spade and Club pictures normal black-clad Kai (Two different pics), and make the heart and diamond colorful Kai's (From the musical episode)

Find four pictures of stanley, any will do, but I might suggest trying to keep with the "One-eyed Jack" theme and find sideways-facing pictures for those cards.

For Zev/Xev, I would use pictures of Xenia for the red cards because of her red hair, and use pictures of Eva for the black cards.

It would just give the prog that "Extra push over the cliff". If I could give it more globes, I would. Five it will have to be, though.

I thought about using different pictures when i made the prog, but those i found didn't really fit in.. I must admit that I haven't followed the series beyond the first episodes (with Eva as Xev/Zev), because the local TV stations haven't sent much of it. My knowledge of the series is thus limited.
I've already made some improvements to the game(although not in the graphical part), and I'm hoping to get it free of bugs and upload it as soon as I have the chance. But if you have some different pictures of the characthers, that would really be a great help!

I have no idea what could be wrong. This version should work fine (if you use VB 5 or 6)

I know what the problem with the runtime error 6 above is. If you drag and drop the files from the .zip into a folder, you will not have the bg folder created. You need to click on the extract button so that it creates the folder for you properly.

This looks really good, except for one little itty bitty thing... when you turn your number upside down for the bottom of the card, it comes out backwards. :) Not many people would see it, I know, but it caught my attention. I haven't studied the code yet, but I would think all you'd have to do it revers the number when you turn it upside down. Kudos on the project.

First comment but worth the effort.

You're code is professional grade and it seems to work just as well as microsoft solitare but about 10 times classier and a lot more fun :)

5 stars without a doubt.
