It works fine but if anything was in the systray before you run the program, it’s gone when your program exits.

What are you talking about, you can use this in lots of situations: minimize a download window to the tray, etc...

If the system tray is hidden it will show if you move the mouse cursor to the bottom of the screen

This is very good/clever.
Some improvements
Follow Ulli 's suggestion and remove the PictureBox.
In IpdateProgress change /2 to /3 to get text up a bit.
Create an event for Form_Move, and place Unload Me into it
Add a Form_Unload event, and place Timer.Enabled = False into it

Not sure what happens when you trying
changing the colors. Ah! that's life.
If you have a fancy progress bar,
that can resize to fit the Form,
you could place that on the Form
(and send it to me).
