This program was UPDATED AS OF 9/16/2000! Every single last line is commented greatly!!! This is a cool unfinished app that I wrote around 3 months ago! This not only shows all of the INs and OUTs of PC Security programming, it also has a great Graphical User Interface and many cool effects. This is code is for making a program that keeps the users out until they sign in. It then creates a hidden System file which is only accessible through the Client Control Panel included in this package with Full source. All this and more packed down to less than half the original size!!! It is now 130Kb!!!! Great download, please vote if you like this submission. NOTE: My last version did not have a screenshot included and had some errors. It was also very big and barely commented, so that is why I deleted it and resubmitted

Afterdownloading it, you will need a program like Winzip to decompress it.Virus note:All files are scanned once-a-day by Planet Source Code for viruses, but new viruses come out every day, so no prevention program can catch 100% of them. For your own safety, please:
  1. Re-scan downloaded files using your personal virus checker before using it.
  2. NEVER, EVER run compiled files (.exe's, .ocx's, .dll's etc.)--only run source code.
  3. Scan the source code with Minnow's Project Scanner

If you don't have a virus scanner, you can get one at many places on the net including:McAfee.com

Great Code! Excellent work deserves an excellent rating. I love the GUI. A very good enhancement to the last version, but still not the full version. Do you know when that will be done? (The full thing i mean)

C00l proggy. I really like it. Suggestion: You should comment it a little more for some of the functions so it could be readable for beginners

Nice simple but powerful code. I think this code should be changed to Intermediate/Beginner level, because it isnt beginner or intermediate. But there is no such category, so I guess its ok. c00l, i think this code is very easy to read

KLOC & All others who want to know what this does, this is the unifished version of the project I am working on. The full version is gonna include multiple user accounts with passwords and advanced encryption. It will freeze the computer when Windows is starting up and ask for a valid username/password, if the user doesn't give one, the computer shuts down and the log is saved. The log is also saved for those who Sign in. The Client Control Panel would view and delete the logs and be able to add accounts. It will require a supervisor password. This version was uploaded to show the GUI and the Sign IN and Client Control Panel part but no user accounts yet. Full version will be done by the end of October if God Wills.

Great GUI! I love it! Nice idea for security. Can't wait to get your full version. Keep it up, man. A suggestion: Add a winsock control to it so that when someone connects to the computer, they will get the Sign In screen.

Its a good one. You may want to add code to hide it from the task list, as well as perhaps putting some of the more non-form related code in a module or two for clarity. Also, not renaming Text1 is bad, and instead of using teh Change event, you should put this in the GotFocus event: text1.SelStart(0): text1.SelLength(Len(text1.text)) which will auto-highlight the text. Also, what is the timer used for? Repeatedly .ShowING the form does nothing, and there are easier ways to update the time than with a timer.

There are a lot better ways to make your program have a nice GUI. But one thing you shouldn't do is take up so much space. Sure, the graphics are nice, but the larger they are, the larger your program will be. There is a lot of unused space, which makes for a ''not-so-good'' GUI. Now I know that a lot of these people like the graphics, but the longer you look at it, the more you will see that this project doesn't need to be so large. I hope these comments do not afflict your on-going design with this application. And if I have offended you, please accept my deepest apologies.

Nice program, but I think you are breaking copyright laws using that interface, it's from Blizzard's StarCraft (Battle.Net), so you might want to get permission from them before you use it... Don't take credit for something you didn't make!

If you got permission from Blizzard, then it isn't...

For 1, the graphics aren't all from Blizzard and for 2, this is not a shareware program so it don't matter. This is just for education. Now, I am going to upload the finished version on January 1st. I finished it and was about to upload it on Oct 10th, but the Israelis bombed my ISP and we had no Internet or electricity for months. Now I'm back and with experience. A Note To Any Criticizers: Plz state your comments politely if you are going to criticize. It takes time to make programs and I dont gotta release the source.

saying "This code is not secure" is not impolite, it's merely stating fact. I notice you've removed all the other feedback about how insecure this code really is.

if I charged you $3000 dollars for a service, you signed the dotted line and then didn't provide the service wouldn't you be a wee bit annoyed ?
